Political Science Students Participate in Model UN Conference in Galápagos, Ecuador

During the week of Thanksgiving, three King's College political science seniors participated in a Model United Nations conference on the Galápagos Island of San Cristóbal Island, Ecuador. The conference was hosted by the Universidad de San Francisco de Quito, at its Galápagos campus on San Cristóbal.
The King's College delegation earned Honorable Mention for representing Canada in the simulation. Additionally, one of the King's College delegates, Lauren Vogel, earned an award for Outstanding Position Paper in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) committee.
The conference also included a community service activity, preventing plastic and other waste from entering the Pacific Ocean and two days of study tours. The study tours included a guided visit to a tortoise sanctuary, a hike to a crater lake, and snorkeling encounters with sea lions, sea turtles, hammerhead sharks, eagle rays, and a myriad of other fish.
