Orlowski Returns as Assistant Athletic Director

With our student-athletes making final preparations to return to campus in three short weeks, the King's College Athletic Department and Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Cheryl Ish released the newest addition to the department's staff. On Tuesday afternoon, Ish announced Andy Orlowski's return to King's College as the next Assistant Athletic Director.

"I am excited to announce the return of Andy to King's as a member of our athletic administration team, serving as Assistant Athletic Director," stated Ish. "With over a decade of coaching experience and a deep familiarity with King's, Andy brings invaluable expertise and a passion for fostering an environment where our student-athletes can thrive."

Orlowski is no stranger to the King's Community as he spent 20 seasons on the sidelines as the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, stepping down after the 2022 campaign. A two-time MAC Freedom Coach of the Year, Orlowski managed every operation related to running a successful NCAA Division III athletics program including planning for all training sessions and games, creating and maintaining a yearly budget, purchasing equipment and uniforms, scheduling contests, arranging travel for road contests, and providing academic support for the entire program. He also guided the Monarchs to four consecutive MAC Freedom playoff appearances from 2012 to 2015, stands as the program's all-time wins leader, and coached every statistical record holder in program history.

His individual student-athletes also earned accolades as he coached one MAC Freedom Player of the Year, two MAC Freedom Rookies of the Year, and 37 All-MAC Freedom honorees. In the classroom, Orlowski oversaw over 100 MAC Academic Honor Roll recipients, two Academic All-MAC honorees, and a MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete.

"Andy's loyalty to the Monarch community and his commitment to advocating for both student-athletes and coaches are evident in every conversation," added Ish. "I look forward to this new chapter of Monarch Athletics and am confident that Andy's presence will make an immediate and positive impact. We are fortunate to have him back on our team."

After leaving King's, Orlowski transitioned to nearby Misericordia where he assisted the Athletic Director in budgeting, purchasing and inventory for 31 varsity sports and developed and managed an equitable uniform purchasing plan for the entire athletic department. He also procured and maintained an Under Armour sponsorship agreement and managed the hiring and supervision of a robust student-worker staff.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Orlowski is the founder and coach for the Team 570 lacrosse team, a non-profit team for 2027 boys, and spent two years each at The Pennington School as an educator and coach from 2000 to 2002 and The Low Country Day School as an educator from 1998 to 2000.

Orlowski also brings a wealth of leadership experience to the role as he served on NCAA Championship host committees and Strategic Planning Committees in his time at Misericordia, as well as a Monarch Fund Athletics Representative for seven years, a member of the MAC Sport Committee for three years, the MAC Men's Lacrosse Conference Chair for three years, and was a founding member of the Monarch Mayhem Advancement Team while at King's.

"I'd like to thank Cheryl and the hiring committee for placing their trust in me as the next Assistant Athletic Director at King's," said Orlowski. "I'm humbled by this opportunity and look forward to serving and doing my part in providing the greatest student-athlete experience possible. King's College has a profound impact on students' lives, and I am excited to be a part of that again."

Orlowski will begin his duties on July 29 ahead of the 2024-25 academic year.
