Billie Burry, Ph.D.
Biography
Billie Burry, Ph.D., MSN-Ed, CRNP, FNP, serves as the Chair of the Nursing Department at King’s College, where she has been a pivotal figure in advancing the department's mission of excellence in nursing education and research. With a distinguished career as a Nurse Educator, Dr. Burry has established herself as a leader in nursing education, clinical practice, and healthcare policy. Dr. Burry earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from the SUNY Broome Community College, her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Wilkes University, and her Family Nurse Practitioner Post Graduate Certificate. She completed her Ph.D. in Nursing Education at Wilkes University, where her research focused on the lived experience of Clinical Nursing Instructors’ engagement with Hospital Staff Nurses.
Before joining King’s College in 2021, Dr. Burry held faculty positions at Wilkes University. Her career is marked by a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting the professional growth of nursing students and faculty. She has practiced nursing in the acute and long-term settings and her expertise is in the Emergency Department/Trauma, CTICU, MSICU, PACU, and Medical Surgical Departments. Dr. Burry is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Higher Education Nursing Schools Association where she serves as the Vice President, the Deans of Catholic Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the American Nurses Association (ANA), and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
