Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship
The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) provides a $5,000 award for graduate students enrolled in a healthcare management program. Preference is given to Student Associates of the ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives). The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) founded the Foster G. McGaw Scholarship to honor the founder of the American Hospital Supply Corporation. This scholarship offers recipients financial aid assistance in a healthcare management graduate program, in order to offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses.
In order to be considered for this scholarship a student must fulfill the following:
- You are a minority student enrolled in your final year (fall/spring) of full-time study in a healthcare management graduate program—MHA, MPH, MBA in Healthcare Administration or similar.
- You are not required to be a Student Associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives. However, during the selection process, preference is given to applicants who are Student Associates of ACHE.
- You can demonstrate financial need.
- You are a U.S. or Canadian citizen.

David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarship
This scholarship is reserved for students who have experience in administration at the federal or state government levels. The application process requires an essay, grade transcripts and two letters of nomination. After the awards are announced, the winners will spend one day in Washington, D.C. at an educational seminar for healthcare administration professionals. The goal of the David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarship is to help promote high quality individuals trained in healthcare policy at the state and federal level. By awarding health policy students with financial support to further their education, this scholarship program can help create more healthcare professionals in the field. The scholarship recognizes student performance and achievement based upon the student’s academic record, recommendations from faculty and colleagues, as well as a strong interest in and commitment to health policy. Ten scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate strong potential to succeed in in the field of healthcare upon graduation from their Master’s of Health Administration (MHA) or Health Policy Degree Program.
Eligibility Criteria:
- This scholarship is open to current first year graduate students in their second full-time equivalent semester or third full-time equivalent quarter studying at any AUPHA member graduate program or affiliated health policy program.
- Applicants must be scheduled to complete the didactic portion of their degree not later than December.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Scholars are selected based on expressed and demonstrated commitment to health policy, leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and long term career interest in health policy.

Tylenol Scholarship
The Tylenol Scholarship Program offers a variety of awards that run from $1,000 per student all the way up to $10,000 per student. The complete program reserves 40 scholarships to give away in total. The applicant must be enrolled in a healthcare graduate program and be a resident of the United States or one of its territories. There is an online application process.
Eligibility:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Be a resident of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia.
- Be a graduate student or be a college senior who will be enrolling in graduate school
- Provide proof of enrollment to a graduate program in medical school, nursing, and/or pharmacy.
- Have one or more years of school remaining.
- Scholarships will be awarded to students and practitioners who are seeking a degree to actively treat patients.
- Employees of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division, ISTS, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and the families of each are not eligible.

Gates Millennium Scholarship
This healthcare scholarship is funded by Bill Gates and his wife Melinda and offers a broad range of scholarships that cover a wide variety of disciplines within the field of healthcare administration and management. The application process begins in early summer and the materials needed will depend on which field you are applying for. The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a “good-through-graduation” scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The goal of this program is to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Continuing Gates Millennium Scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.

The Bachrach Family Scholarship for Excellence in Health Care Administration

Bill and Mary Russell Scholarship
The Bill and Mary Russell Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for those pursuing educational opportunities toward a career in nursing or a health care field (clinical or patient care). At least fifty percent of the awarded funds will support nursing scholarships. Remaining funds will be awarded to those pursuing educational opportunities in other clinical or patient care programs. Healthcare Information Management Systems Scholarship
Healthcare Information Management Systems (HIMSS) is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization with a goal on providing more efficient health through more effective information technology. The HIMSS Scholarship is awarded to one currently enrolled undergraduate student, one master’s level student and one doctoral level student. Recipients will be awarded $5,000 and an all-expense paid trip to the Awards Banquet at the Annual HIMSS Conference.
Applicants for the Healthcare Information Management Systems scholarships must fulfill these minimum requirements:
- The applicant must be a member in good standing of HIMSS
- The primary occupation of the applicant at the time the scholarship is awarded must be that of student in an accredited undergraduate, Masters or PhD program related to the healthcare information or management systems field.

One of the most widely known scholarships for students in the field of medical practice management is the regional scholarship awarded by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). National Association of Health Services Executives Scholarships
The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) sponsors a set of three annual scholarships. The awards go to African American graduate students in the field of health services. The goal of these scholarships is to help diversifying the profession of health services. Each scholarship is worth $2,500, and recipients are invited to attend the group’s annual conference without cost.
The three scholarships included are:
• The Haynes Rice Award is bestowed by NAHSE to outstanding graduate students who are striving to become future leaders in healthcare management and NAHSE.
• The Florence Gaynor Award was established to recognize outstanding achievements among female graduate students who are striving to become future leaders in healthcare management and NAHSE.
• The Ellis Bonner Award is a special category to recognize the distinguished leadership and academic achievement among non-traditional graduate students who are striving to become future leaders in healthcare management and NAHSE.
In order to be eligible for these scholarships, students must fulfill the following criteria:
• Applicant must be either enrolled or accepted in an accredited college or university program, pursuing a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Doctorate Degree, majoring in healthcare administration or a related field.
- Applicant must be matriculating during the applicable academic school year Applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need.
- Applicant must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates on a scale or four.
