Welcome to Part One of our Orientation program for newly admitted full-time first-year students, ACADEMIC ORIENTATION!

Academic Orientation is a one day program designed to help first-year students transition smoothly from high school to King’s College. Activities planned for the day include: a team building session with your classmates, an academic session, a technology session and an advisement session. During your advisement session, you will meet one-on-one with an academic advisor to discuss your major (if you have chosen one) and to understand what is meant by the terms: core requirements, major requirements, and free electives. You will also receive your class schedule and have the opportunity to discuss the classes for which you are registered. Lunch will be provided and you will have opportunities to get your student ID cared and meet with a variety of departments during the MANE Fair.

Prior to Academic Orientation:

A letter will be sent to new students who submitted their enrollment deposit starting around April 18, 2018.  This letter will provide more detailed information explaining how to access the New Student Portal where you are required to complete the following:

  1. Establish and update your password in the New Student Portal
  2. Complete the required Student Questionnarie. 
  3. Complete the required Placement Tests*.
  4. Register for a Academic Orientation Session.
  5. Complete the required Health Forms.
  6. Access your King's E-mail.
  7. Complete the required Health Forms.

All tasks listed above must be completed BEFORE a student's class schedule can be created. The deadline date to complete these tasks in the New Student Portal is Monday, June 4, 2018. Also, you will have a better opportunity to register for your preferred Academic Orientation Session if you complete all tasks in a timely matter!

*Accommodations, such as extra time, can be arranged by contacting the Academic Skills Center (570)-208-5841) prior to a student attempting the placement test(s) online.

Schedule Information

Arrival and check-in for students and parents is 8:30 a.m. in the main lobby of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at approximately 3:30 p.m. Throughout the day, you will have an opportunity to meet with an academic advisor, review your Academic Planner, and attend other important sessions that will help in your transition to college. Lunch will be provided in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center and tours of the residence halls will be available.
