May 8, 2014 - Shantal Pelaez and Dhalia Espinoza have been selected as the 2014 McGowan Hispanic Scholarship recipients.  The scholarship was initiated in 2008 with generous support from the McGowan Charitable Fund. The recipients will receive full tuition and room and board expenses for their four years at King’s College. McGowan Hispanic Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain a 3.2 grade point average and to contribute five hours of community service each week.

Dhalia Espinoza is the daughter of Raul Espinoza and Maricela Ruiz of Wilkes-Barre. Dhalia attends James Coughlin High School. She intends to enroll in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at King's. During the last three years, Dhalia has participated in the McGowan Hispanic Outreach High School Mentoring and Summer Residential programs at King's.

Shantal Pelaez is the daughter of Juan Carlos Pelaez and Ingrid Echavarria of Hazleton. Shantal attends Hazleton Area High School. She intends to major in International Business at King’s. During the last three years, Shantal has participated in Mock-Trial classes at her school.

The two students and their families were guests as a special breakfast event in April held for King’s scholarship recipients.

King’s College is a Catholic College Sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
