Student Questionaire

To provide you with an optimal schedule, we must first gather as much information as possible about you and your academic and extracurricular interests. We have devised a Student Questionnaire, which contains questions pertaining to your major, preferred class times, intercollegiate athletics, and other pertinent topics, that will assist us in planning for your initial college experience. The Questionnaire should only take 15 minutes to complete, but please take your time and answer the questions thoughtfully and honestly.

Core/Honors Curriculum Survey

Most of the questions on the Core/Honors Curriculum Survey ask you to determine your degree of interest in various course offerings in the Core/Honors Curriculum. It is important that you read and rank your options very carefully as we would like to use this information to provide you with the best possible schedule for your first semester. Although we will do our best, we cannot guarantee that you will receive your ideal schedule due to scheduling conflicts and class availability.

Placement Tests

To more accurately place students in first year classes, student take a writing and math test to determine which classes best meet their needs. (Exemptions may apply, see below)

Writing Placement Test*

Newly admitted full-time first-year students who scored less than 550 on the Critical Reading and/or Writing sections of the SAT or who did not submit SAT scores to the college will be required to take a Writing Placement Test prior to registering for classes.  On the basis of these SAT test scores and/or the Writing Placement Test, each student will be placed in the writing course that is consistent with their writing ability.  If placed in Core 099, the student will enroll in Core 110 the following semester.

*Accommodations, such as extra time, can be arranged by contacting the Academic Skills Center (570)-208-5841) prior to a student attempting the placement test(s) online.

Math Placement Test*

Newly admitted full-time first-year students who scored less than 500 on the Math section of the SAT (or did not submit their SAT score to the College) will be required to take a Mathematics Placement Test prior to registering for classes. In addition, the academic profile/history of each admitted student will be thoroughly analyzed by the faculty of the Mathematics Department to determine the student’s level of mathematical ability. On the basis of this analysis and the student’s performance on the Mathematics Placement Test (if required), each student will be placed into a mathematics course that is consistent with their selected major and appropriate for their mathematical ability.

*Accommodations, such as extra time, can be arranged by contacting the Academic Skills Center (570)-208-5841) prior to a student attempting the placement test(s) online.

Schedule your Summer Advisement appointment

Once you have access to the Summer Advisement Portal, and you completed the necessary tasks, you will have an opportunity to schedule your Summer Advisement appointment. A confirmation will be sent directly to your King’s E-mail. (Don’t worry, after you schedule your appointment, we will walk you through the process of how to access your King’s E-mail).

King’s Email

It is important for all King’s students to set-up a King’s email address. By doing so, you will begin to receive valuable information that will allow you to transition effortlessly to college. Checking your King’s email frequently will ensure you receive all information in a timely manner and avoid potential delays in processing your forms for registration, housing, and health services to name just a few. Your King’s E-mail account and instructions on how to access it will be included in the letter from the Academic Advisement Office.
